Where is Trancoso?
Trancoso is a district of the municipality of Porto Seguro, on the southern coast of Bahia, Brazil. It lies south of Arraial d'Ajuda and north of Caraíva, in the region known as the Discovery Coast.
What is the nearest airport?
Porto Seguro Airport (BPS). From there you continue by road, either crossing the Buranhém River by ferry or going around by land. See the options in the airport guide.
When is Espelho Beach at its best?
At low tide, when the reefs form natural pools. Check the Brazilian Navy tide table, using the station closest to Trancoso, on your travel dates and plan the trip around it.
How many days should I stay?
Three or four days cover the Quadrado, the village beaches, Espelho and Caraíva. With five to seven days you can add Arraial d'Ajuda, Porto Seguro and a visit to the Atlantic Forest.
Do I need a car in Trancoso?
Not for the Quadrado and the village beaches, which you can reach on foot. For Espelho, Caraíva and the more distant beaches you need a car, a taxi or arranged transport.
