In the Historic Center, protected as a national monument since 1973 according to Wikipedia: the Discovery Landmark (Marco do Descobrimento), the Mother Church of Nossa Senhora da Pena and the old colonial houses. Along the waterfront, the town beaches and the departure point for boats to Recife de Fora.

Frequently asked questions

Can I do Arraial and Porto Seguro on the same day?

Yes, on a long day: the cliffs and Arraial in the morning, the ferry and the Historic Center in the afternoon. If you want to add Recife de Fora, plan two days.

Do I need a car?

It helps, but it is not essential: there are pre-arranged transfers and taxis. Foot passengers cross on the ferry and continue on the other side.

What is the most practical order?

From south to north: Taípe, Pitinga, Arraial, the ferry and Porto Seguro. On the way back, choose between the ferry and the overland route depending on the queue.

What about Recife de Fora?

It depends on low tide and the boat schedules in Porto Seguro. Fit it into a day when low tide falls at a convenient time.
