Updated on October 5, 2026 ✓ Information checked on October 5, 2026 adapted from the Portuguese original
Four days let you explore Trancoso without rushing. Besides the village and Espelho, you can add the southern beaches and a night in Caraíva. Start with the tide table: the Espelho day is the only fixed one.
Overview
| Day | Theme | Low tide? |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Arrival, the Quadrado and the village beaches | No |
| 2 | Rio Verde and Itapororoca | Helps |
| 3 | Espelho Beach and Curuípe | Yes |
| 4 | Caraíva overnight (or return in the afternoon) | No |
Day 1: arrival and the village
Arrive via Porto Seguro Airport, settle in and head to the Quadrado in the late afternoon. If there’s time, go down to Nativos Beach.
Day 2: the southern beaches
Morning at Rio Verde, where the river meets the sea, and afternoon at Itapororoca, with its wide sands. Bring water and snacks: facilities are limited. Watch out for the current at the river mouth.
Day 3: Espelho
Your low-tide day. Arrive before the lowest point, enjoy the natural pools at Espelho Beach and walk to Curuípe. Head back before the tide rises too much.
Day 4: Caraíva
Drive to the river and take the canoe to Caraíva. If your trip continues, spend the night there; if it’s your last day, return in the afternoon. See how to get there.
