Trancoso has no airport and no major bus station of its own. The most common route is to fly to Porto Seguro and continue by road. English-language Wikipedia notes that the village only got a direct road link to Porto Seguro in 1999, which boosted tourism.
By plane: Porto Seguro Airport (BPS)
Porto Seguro Airport is about 2 km from the town center and has a 2,000 m runway, according to Wikipedia. It is served by Brazilian airlines such as LATAM, Gol and Azul. Routes and frequencies change with the season: check with the airlines.
From the airport to the village: two routes
| Route | What it involves | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| By ferry | Porto Seguro → ferry across the Buranhém River → Arraial d’Ajuda → road to Trancoso | Ferry queues in high season |
| Overland | A detour by road, without crossing the river | Longer distance in kilometers |
Both work by car, taxi or transfer. This guide does not publish travel times or prices without an official source: check with the company or the driver. Details of the crossing in Porto Seguro ferry.
By car

Locally, a car helps you reach Espelho and Caraíva, but in the village itself you can do everything on foot.
