Trancoso is a district of the municipality of Porto Seguro, on the southern coast of Bahia, about 725 km from Salvador, according to Wikipedia. Almost everyone arrives via Porto Seguro Airport and continues by road. The planning below follows the order that saves you from redoing work.
1. Choose your dates
First decide on the period and see what changes in each season in when to visit Trancoso. High season (the end of the year, Carnival, July and public holidays) means a crowded village and high prices. Outside it, the village is calmer.
2. Check the tide table
Espelho Beach and Recife de Fora depend on low tide. Before finalizing your itinerary, check in Espelho Beach tides which days have low tide at a good time.
3. Sort out your arrival
- By plane: Porto Seguro Airport (code BPS) is served by Brazilian airlines, according to Wikipedia.
- From the airport to the village: by road, with the ferry across the Buranhém River or going around overland. See how to get to Trancoso and Porto Seguro ferry.
4. Choose where to stay
Staying near the Quadrado lets you do almost everything on foot. Staying on the beaches or along the road gives you more peace and quiet but requires transport. Compare in where to stay in Trancoso.
5. Build your itinerary
Use one of the 2- to 7-day itineraries and adjust it to the tide. Include a day for Caraíva if you have three days or more.
6. Budget
Accommodation and food are the biggest expenses. See how much a trip to Trancoso costs.
7. Safety and health
Read Trancoso safety and note the emergency numbers: 190 (Military Police), 192 (SAMU ambulance) and 193 (Fire Department).
