Trancoso is warm all year round. Porto Seguro’s climate is classified as hot, very humid tropical, with highs close to 35 °C (95 °F) in summer and averages around 25 °C (77 °F) in winter, according to Wikipedia. So the question “when to go” has less to do with temperature and more to do with crowds, prices, rain and tides. Note that seasons are reversed: summer in Brazil runs from December to March.

Rain
It rains throughout the year in southern Bahia, often in quick showers but sometimes for several days in a row. Wikipedia does not have reliable monthly averages for Trancoso; for official data, use INMET’s climatological normals (Brazil’s national weather institute) for the nearest station. If you get rain, see Trancoso on rainy days.
Heavy rain also affects the dirt roads to Espelho and Caraíva. Check conditions before you go.
Tides: they matter in every month
Espelho Beach needs low tide at any time of year. Every month has good days and bad days. Before you lock in your dates, look at the tide table: see Espelho Beach tides.
