Editorial Policy

The rules we follow to publish, update and correct information.

Updated on October 5, 2026 ✓ Information checked on October 5, 2026 adapted from the Portuguese original

This policy explains how Trancoso Guide chooses sources, publishes information and corrects mistakes. It applies to every page on the site.

Sources

  • Primary sources come first: Porto Seguro City Hall, the Bahia State Government and its departments, the Brazilian Navy (tide tables), ICMBio, environmental agencies, IPHAN, IBGE, universities, the airport operator and the official websites of attractions.
  • Secondary sources (encyclopedias, major portals, the press) are used with caution and, whenever possible, confirmed in a primary source.
  • Blogs and aggregators only guide our research. We do not publish any figure that comes solely from them.
  • Pages with information that changes show the date it was checked and the list of sources.

Prices, times and dates

  • A price only appears when it comes from an official source, with the source and the month/year in the text.
  • Without an official source, we say the amount varies and point to where to confirm it.
  • Times of tide-dependent outings are not fixed: we advise you to check the tide table.
  • Event dates only with an official source. A new year’s date is never assumed from the previous one.

Businesses

  • No invented businesses. In the business directory, a business is only listed with a verifiable public source, such as an official website or Cadastur.
  • In editorial articles, we do not name hotels, guesthouses, restaurants, beach shacks or agencies.
  • We do not publish business phone numbers or WhatsApp.
  • Being in the guide is neither a recommendation nor a ranking.

Advertising and sponsorship

  • Ads are kept separate from content and labeled.
  • Sponsored listings in the business directory carry a visible label and have a set end date.
  • Partner links, if any, are labeled.
  • No sponsorship buys favorable editorial content.

No invented experiences

We do not write “we visited”, “we tested” or “we were there”. Our content is based on research and sources, and we say so clearly.

Safety

When writing about the sea, natural pools, reefs, river mouths, cliffs and boats, we remind readers about tides, currents, lifeguard guidance, life jackets and respect for the coral.

Corrections

Mistakes happen. If you find information that is wrong or out of date, write to us via the contact form, telling us the page and, if possible, the correct source. We fix the text and update the review date.
