Location

Where is Trancoso? On the southern coast of Bahia. It is a district of the municipality of Porto Seguro, about 725 km from Salvador, according to Wikipedia. To the north is Arraial d’Ajuda; to the south, Espelho and Caraíva.

Is Trancoso a city? No. It is one of Porto Seguro’s five districts, along with the town itself, Arraial d’Ajuda, Caraíva and Vale Verde.

Getting there

Do I need the ferry? Not necessarily: you can take the Buranhém River ferry or go around overland. See Porto Seguro ferry.

Beaches and tours

Which beach is closest to the Quadrado? Nativos Beach, a short walk downhill.
