According to Wikipedia, it opened in 1982, sits on Avenida Brigadeiro Faria Lima, about 2 km from downtown Porto Seguro, and has a 2,000 m runway. It is served by LATAM, Gol and Azul, among other airlines, depending on the season.

Two routes to the village
- By ferry: from the airport to the dock in Porto Seguro, across the Buranhém River to the Arraial d’Ajuda side, then by road to Trancoso. See Porto Seguro ferry.
- Overland: a detour along the highway, with no river crossing. Useful when the ferry queue is long.
Ask your driver which route they plan to take and why.
Arrival tips
- Have the full address of your accommodation and a landmark (many streets have no visible house numbers).
- In high season, book your transport in advance.
- If you arrive at night, arrange your check-in with the accommodation.
- Carry some cash for small expenses.
On the way back
Allow extra time for the ferry and check-in. On public holidays and over New Year’s Eve (Réveillon), queues and traffic increase. For the full journey, see how to get to Trancoso.

Is it better to rent a car?
It is worth it if you plan to visit Espelho, Caraíva and the more distant beaches. If you are staying in the village, a taxi or transfer is enough.

No, but arrange your transport in advance, let your accommodation know and have the exact address, because many streets are unpaved and poorly lit.
